Re: Names That Have Been On Your Mind Lately
Names that have been on my mind lately:
Flannan - I've been reading about mystical disappearances, among them the mystical disappearances from the Flannan Isles, Scotland. Can't decide if I like it or not. Because of the book, Mary Celeste has also been on my mind, but I guess it would be a bit cruel to use. WDYT?Cecilée and Arimande - two names I've seen online on a site called Svenska Namn (Swedish names). Sirmione - this is really a place in Italy and when I read the name I thought it was sooo beautiful. Then I realised that in English it would sound like "Sir Mione", so I don't know if it would be so good. But I'm not planning to use it for real, so...Kyra - pr. KEE-ruh, not KYE-ruh. Isn't this just so beautiful?

I love Celeste, more by itself than paired with Mary. Kyra is also beautiful though I prefer Kira. Kyra lends itself to mispronunciations unfortunately.

The Kira/Kyra would probably not be a problem here in Sweden, since I and Y are pronounced almost the same. But I think some people would pr. it CHEE-ra, since in Swedish, K tends to be pr. "ch" before E, I, Y (and Ä and Ö).
