Names That Have Been On Your Mind Lately
What are they? Any particular reason they are on your mind?I've been thinking about Jasmine, Cole, Duncan, Jacinda, Howard, Paul, Marion, and Liora. I like all of them except for Howard, though I have to admit it's adorable in its own way. You?

I like Jacinda, Marion and Liora. Paul is ok I just have a hard time picturing it on a little one. Duncan is too prep school for me. Howard is too old man and just not pleasant sounding. Cole is meh and Jasmine is verging on trashy.Names that have been on my mind lately...Meredith - I love the idea of Mare but maybe Meredith is more suitable? I can't see myself using Mary and Marion is out as it's the name of nearby town
Magnolia / Nola - I'm loving Nola lately but worry it may be too close to SO sister, Nora. Magnolia feels a bit to cumbersome as a FN
Fauna
Maybelle
Sanaa - I saw this one in some movie credits the other day. I love the sound and meaning but worry pronunciation might be a problemFabian
Preston
Layne - it's my MN and a family surname
Taj - I just love the easy coolness of it but will people think this odd on a caucasian child?
Roland / Rollo

I have been thinking a lot about Louisa lately and Oscar and Ezra. I am not sure why either Louisa or Oscar are on my mind. Ezra is on my mind because I have been seeing it everywhere and have refallen in love with it.

Arlo, Townes and Cedar.Been getting into folky music lately and I feel like my interest in names has gone that root too.

James
Patricia - I read a short story called Patricia recently and now it seems not so drab. Though not yet sure I actually like it.
Joy
Aude
Sorrel - Purely because I was picking sorrel a while ago. I think maybe it's pretty. Is it? It's growing on me. Particularly Mary Sorrel.
Kyle - One I'd never seen on a real person before and suddenly they are everywhere. The name is quite nice, despite the impression the bearers have left XD

Alright, names and reasons.Boys:
Tycho / Tyche -From a book I'm reading.
Vitaly -Just saw this on a movie and it was like hearing it for the first time.
Shalev -An older character I've started writing a lot more about recently.
Nemo -Thinking of using this on a character since I couldn't possibly use it in real life.
Borna -Just used this on a character.
Bojan -Just saw this in a post by Sofia.
Dario -newer character of mine.
Hylas -I've just been going through my titanic sized mythology book lately and I like saying this one.
Hyperion -and this one.
Hyacinth -and this one.
Alexios -idk why this one keeps coming to mind.Girls:
Idonea -I just saw this in a post by Mireio.
Thalia -considering using it on a character
Leto -considering using it on the same character
Silvia -newer character of mine. Sister to Dario (and Maribel).

Lily and Marina. Marina because I fluctuate in how much I like it but right now I do like it a lot. It came into my mind because I've been listening to Marina and the Diamonds lately. Lily because I've been wondering whether I like it enough to use it. It sometimes seems girly and fragile and weak but sometimes so so so so so beautiful. And it's got Lily Potter nee Evans as a namesake.

Marina is so pretty!

I'm trying to find some male names for my 'future son' list (since my top names aren't usable anymore), so I've been contemplating Branimir, Borna, Matej/ Mateo, Damjan, Adam, Rafael. The problem is I'd prefer my kids to have more international names, so most of them wouldn't work. And as always I've found several for my girl list: Karmela, Yulia, Eva, Ozana, Lejla. But my girls' list already has a top 5, so these would probably never get used.Out of yours I adore Cole and like Liora. Wish I lived somewhere where I could use Cole (and Jason), all my problems would be solved.

Miranda: Almost-Boyfriend brought up that he's "one of those weird people who has already named his kids" even though we haven't known each other for that long and listed this as one of his favourite name. Same goes for Beatrix "Bea" (he likes Trixie, I just prefer Bea) and Lyle, which is the only other one he listed that I like (though Lyle only as an mn).

Aw, I wish I could warm up to Paul. I don't think I'll ever like it, but it's from one of my favorite books.Mine are:
Mirella
Manon
Lucia - I've always hated it because of a woman I knew, but it's so pretty.
Gaetano - on the fence with this one. It has some really good qualities and some glaring faults.
Plácido
Hernán
ErnestoI also find it really interesting how I go through alternating phases of posting about names of Latin origin and names of Germanic origin. I almost feel like I've come full circle from 5 years ago.

The combos Theo Adrian, Judith Rose and Isobel Joy are all in my head.My new cousin Rachel Theodora is in there too, as are Benedict and Caspian, the two contending names that our friends did and didn't use for their son.

Boys--
Lucien/Lucius/Luken, although I'm not huge on 'Luke' as a nickname.
Calix is one I've just stumbled upon that I find interesting.
Enki, but probably only in the middle name spot. Particularly Luken Enki.
Stellan is always a favorite.Girls--
Nerissa I discovered last week and find to be quite lovely.
Aisha (I pronounce it EYE-sha) is another new discovery.
Kassandra I just adore the meaning of.

I like Jasmine and Cole from your list.Thomas - I really dislike Tom though and I don't think a Thomas would manage to avoid that nickname all his life.Melody - I'm wary about it being badly recieved because of name-words such as: Destiny, Lyric, Honesty etc. which people dislike.Jenna Lucia - this combo is quickly growing on me though I am wary of the double "a" sound at the end of both names.Britney - for all the wrong reasons, I really do not like this name but it is always not too far away from my thoughts."-son" names, mainly Carson (I'm toying with Karson for a girl but I know that it will be hated by the vast majority). Emmerson, just like the sound of it. Tennyson, I think the nickname Tenny is cute but too cute to use alone. And also Chanson, cannot get this out of my head! I'm really loving it and the possible nickname of Chance.
vote up1
I guess you know that chanson is the French word for song?
vote up1
Yes that's how I came across it, I figure with little girls being named Lyric, Song and Harmony, Chanson wouldn't cause too much of a fuss.
vote up1
I love Thomas, I'd definitely consider using it. I never was a big fan of Tom, either. It's definitely possible to avoid such a common nickname with some effort. But lately I don't really mind Tom, so I probably would end up using it eventually.

Ramona, al the time. Its well on the way to becoming my favourite. Also Lily, although I know itd overused I stil really like it.

Ramona has a quirky, indie vibe I find appealing.

Yes, three names AAMOF:BOYSHosea
Elishua - I prn it eh-LIH-shoo-uh. It's a biblical name.GIRLSSkyeI've been rather obsessed with Skye lately. It's just so elegant to me. The boy names are harder to explain. They aren't the kind of names I would normally like.

Names that have been on my mind lately:
Flannan - I've been reading about mystical disappearances, among them the mystical disappearances from the Flannan Isles, Scotland. Can't decide if I like it or not. Because of the book, Mary Celeste has also been on my mind, but I guess it would be a bit cruel to use. WDYT?Cecilée and Arimande - two names I've seen online on a site called Svenska Namn (Swedish names). Sirmione - this is really a place in Italy and when I read the name I thought it was sooo beautiful. Then I realised that in English it would sound like "Sir Mione", so I don't know if it would be so good. But I'm not planning to use it for real, so...Kyra - pr. KEE-ruh, not KYE-ruh. Isn't this just so beautiful?
vote up1
I love Celeste, more by itself than paired with Mary. Kyra is also beautiful though I prefer Kira. Kyra lends itself to mispronunciations unfortunately.
vote up1
The Kira/Kyra would probably not be a problem here in Sweden, since I and Y are pronounced almost the same. But I think some people would pr. it CHEE-ra, since in Swedish, K tends to be pr. "ch" before E, I, Y (and Ä and Ö).
