I know a woman who had a
gigantic Alsatian cross named Bear... because he was huge, husky and bear-like from the start. She called him Bear Boo as a nickname and he was an amazing dog, so I think it's a great dog name by association. And the Bear I knew grew to be very, very big and fluffy, so Bear does fit large/medium and fluffy breeds in my view :)
Really, I do like 'Bear' as a dog name. :) It's sweet.
I also like
Samson "
Sonny",
Teddy,
Dusty and
Albert "
Bert" or even "
Bertie". One thought is that you could name him Bear and still use "
Teddy" or "
Teddy Bear" as a nn. I say that as my much missed kitty had a hundred and one nicknames.
Dewey and
Midas are okay but not entirely my style.
I don't care for the rest. Since there are some I really like, it evens out, non? :)
