Niamh is technically "NEE-uv" in Irish. (My mother was born and raised in County Cork. We visited a lot when I was growing up. So I have a special yen for Irish names and ask my cousins about them. Caveat: Southern accents like Cork may be different to other parts.) When spoken at normal speed, it's more like "neev."
"Nee-vee" sounds like a nickname for
Niamh, like
Evie for
Eve /
Eva. But that's just a guess. And I would think it would be spelled more like Nevie / Neevie than
Niamh.
