Oh, I thought the lady Gargoyle was Desdemona? *checking*...ohhh she was just Demona. Hmmm.
It really does seem like a lot of name for a baby, doesn't it! But I agree, Mona and Des or Desi make the name more approachable.

Yeah, the one referred to as Desdemona in production material was a minor Gargoyle involved in a storyline involving two minor male Gargoyles referred to as Iago and Othello. Desdemona, Othello, and Iago were merged into one cyborg gargoyle known as Coldstone, until they were all eventually put in separate android bodies; Coldfire, Coldstone, and Coldsteel, respectively.
Although, in hindsight, the parents could have named their daughter after Demona and just used Desdemona as a way to make it appear more name like, completely unaware that there was already an entirely different gargoyle named Desdemona. S'pose we'll never really know.
