My name is Janice and the closest name to my own that I'd use for a child is Janine. Janine is, in fact, my eight-year-old niece's name, but I'm going to assume for the sake of this question that it isn't the name of my niece, as I would not, in reality, use a name that my sister had already used. I think it's cute and I like its retro feel. It's retro because its greatest period of popularity was the 1960s---on the other hand, it was never really popular, so it doesn't seem as tired and dated as names that were.
