Poshest of Posh Names
One of my daily site checks is ONTD, and they had a post about Benedict Cumberbatch and his wife confirming their pregnancy-- of course, everyone had to make jokes about the possible name, given their fancy-nancy-poshness. People weren't being very creative though (some people were even suggestion Elizabeth, one of the most common names ever!), so I took to google to get some ideas... and came across some amusing names and sibsets! Elektra Esmeralda (g), Dorothy (g), Wulfstan (b), Cleopatra (g)Perpetua (g), Helvetica (g), Clarendon (b)Also came across this BTN post with some amusing names: http://www.behindthename.com/bb/baby/4172302And then there's this HuffPost link, http://www.huffingtonpost.com/pamela-redmond-satran/british-baby-names-choice_b_739957.html, including such gems as Tancred Thomas Granville (Ruskie), brother for Inca Skye, Inigo Somerset, and Francis Doune.
What do you guys think are some of the poshest names you've ever heard?
Disclaimer: Not meaning to offend anyone, I like plenty of fancy-pants names myself, but there are certain levels where it can start to get hilarious lol

I've met people, all aged under 20, called:
Montgomery and Francesco (brothers) nn Monty and Frankie.
Jemima nn Mimi
Angelica
Archie
Helena
Adelaide
Penelope
Alistair
Lucinda
Camille
Celeste
Imogen (is this a posh name?)
Matilda (apparently this is posh too, but, like, I'm Australian...)My sister is actually called Genevieve, nn Evie, but I struggle to think of it as posh because it's so normal to me, and plus we're not posh, or French.

A lot of the suggested names don't strike me as posh like Coco, Indigo, and Inca Skye. Some of these names such as Elektra are certainly old classically inspired names that would appeal to those who enjoy Greek mythology. Helvetica is a type font and would probably appeal to hipsters and some Geeks as a name but doesn't seem particularly upper-crust. Esmeralda reminds me of 'The Hunchback of Notre Dame.' Wulfstan, Clarendon, and Tancred do seem like they could appeal to the British upper class. I think Leopold, Bertram, Clarence, Reginald, Augustus, Althea and Sinclair could come across as posh although it would depend on the bearer. Thanks for posting the links. There are some interesting and amusing name combos in here.

The names I find sound posh to me are:Victoria (This is a nice name, but all I think about when I hear it or see it is Posh Spice, Victoria Beckham)
Winona (I know many people like this name, but it just sounds posh to me)
Coco
Hero
Most virtue names

Have to disagree Winona is far from a posh name,My family and I are certainly not posh and Winona is a name that has spanned four generations of our family and none of the bearers were posh or upperclass.

I couldn't care less about Bendydict Cumberbritches (and I hate the idea of him mauling Hamlet. Then again, if you're gonna ham it up and be a twatish diva, well, it's almost fitting. The Danish prince was a little precious) but I love OTT names.I actually like Electra. Never would use it, but it's kinda cool. Dorothy is blargh, though, Dorothea is so much more (hipster) chic, and Wulfstan is genuinely horrid. I kind of dig Cleopatra but not as an actuall person name. From the BtN post:
Allegra Cosima Ortigia Saffron... ahah! Allegra Cosima is very pretty in a pretentious way.
Heh! Calypso and Kit! Wouldn't work amongst us plebs.
Atticus Oliver Ernest, brother of Leticia, Beatrice, and Agatha - ahahah! I like Beatrice and Agatha, though.
I like Beatrix (not the icky middle names) and Xanthe.
Beau as a girls' name makes no sense whatsoever.
I like Casper with Cosmo! What's wrong with me?!
Eh, long story short, the names are hilarious and sometimes kinda cool. Can't think of a posh name I've seen in the wild off the top of my head, even though I live in quite a posh area.

That's embarrassingly funny. Those poor children...or cats. Are they cats?I do like George, Posie, Betsy, and Winifred as names though.

Biggles and Posie don't sound posh to me. They sound ridiculous and childishly pet like. Can you imagine a Judge Biggles? Well, perhaps I can picture it, but it is ludicrously absurd.

Oh. My. God. That's just, wow hahahaBiggles Fittleworth sounds like the name of a talking animal in a children's book. Tuppence is just hilarious.
