Taking hipster baby names up a notch
A clever little tongue-in-cheek article from Buzzfeed that may or may not be mocking Nameberry.

Ha! This is indeed very clever and worth the read. I especially liked suggestions of Truant, Quinoa and Chia along with the advice, "Just steer clear of Isis." :-)
Um.... that MADE my day. Hilarious. I barely got through the very first comment of Narwhal.
You know there are readers taking the sarcasm to heart and we may (or may not) see a few people posting "What a GREAT idea! I am definately naming my daughter Xola Kiwi!"

I'm naming my future child Narwhal. No one can convince me otherwise.
Who would want to? It's perfection.
I've met two Holdens and two Athenas, so they don't really feel hipsterish to me. I wonder if they're fans of My Well Dressed Imaginary Toddler Daughter, since they included Quinoa.
Ok some of the sarcastic suggestions are actually my thing.
Actually, I thought most of the comments had a laughable suggestion and an accepted one. I mean Truant is hilarious, but Daria is totally legit. [commentary on alternatives to Rebel, from article]
I was thinking the same thing...
A lot of those are really nice names. The real story should be the names listed in the comments. Those are the ones that raise eyebrows.

Hm.
I don't find the article particularly clever. Some of them are pretty sensible names, like Clementine. And naming your child after a novel is not the worst thing in the world, either.
They're not necessarily the ones I would have gone for, anyway.

The main list is names that are already established favorites in the hipster community. The comments below each name is a take on the extent that some parents will go to give their kids the newest and freshest hipster names.
Clementine is legit (as it was one of the established names) - the sarcasm was comparing it to Plum and Kiwi. Which is even more tongue-in-cheek since Plum is becoming trendy online as a middle.
I didn't find the whole thing witty - but Narwhal really made my day.

Plum has already been used as a name. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plum_(disambiguation)
