...is apparently James. Ryan confirmed it on the Today Show.
I don't mind Jamie on a girl, but James just feels odd IMO.

Will this stupid boys'-names-for-girls trend ever end?
I know Blake herself has a boys' names, but I'll give some leeway since Blake is a surname. James is a biblically masculine boys' name. There is nothing feminine about it.
Still, I doubt this is going to inspire that many people to use it. Look at her own name. It's still mostly guys who have the name.

Seems fitting since the parents have traditionally boys names used on the opposite gender.
I can stand Ryan on a girl and I actually love Blake on a girl but James? That's far to classic and masculine for a girl.

Yuk. There are more than enough feminine names to choose from - this seems like they were hoping for a boy and used the name they'd picked out (at least I would have that suspicion if my parents had named me James!).

I swear there was an article last year that said the new trend would be stereotypical boys names on girls... James and Michael were the examples.
I am not a fan necessarily. I mean, James is very boy to me... but the sound is sweet enough for a girl. I said the same about the Ashton/Mila child Wyatt.
I wish the trend were over-the-top old school.... Jamesina or Jamesette would have been bolder imo.

I hate James as a girl's first name (I actually think it's pretty sweet in the middle spot, but only if it's a family surname/honoring), but it's really somewhat tame compared to the regular stuff Hollywood parents pump out.
What really gets me is that this is yet another missed opportunity for Jamesina. Le sigh.

Haha. That's not even Hollywood. Could have named her Fred or Oscar or Burt. James on a girl isn't gender-bending. It feels like it has been done, and done, and done, and it's over... feels like 1986. It's just trendy style, now, to name a daughter James. Or Ryan, or Elliot. It seems imagey and surnamey, not really different from naming her Riley or London or Morgan. Or Blake.

Yeah, I agree. It's so dissatisfying. It's been done. I kind of like that they are using the tradition of a unisex name like their own names are (although, are they even aware of it, I wonder?), but an edgier choice would have been juicy. Like...an old man name that is so unfashionably old, it's never going to be cool again.

Considering that Blake and Ryan are male names, traditionally, the name James seems to fit in. It is a classic name and it doesn't bother me at all that the name was given to a baby girl. I actually like James on a girl with the nn Jamie. It also not very out there compared to other celebrity baby names. It seems quite normal.

Meh. Maybe I'm not that scandalized by it because my sister's middle name is James and so is every one of my nieces so it doesn't seem too terrible to me. I don't like it as a first name, but it doesn't make a half bad middle name for girls. I like masculine sounding names on girls, but usually only as a nicknames. Maybe she'll go by Jamie or something.

Aren't blind spots interesting? There he is, telling the planet that he hadn't wanted to reveal the name because babies grow up to be teenagers, who dig through Internet archives and turn on their parents, demanding explanations. (I paraphrase, but not badly.) And then, knowing that, he goes right ahead and names her James anyway. Bizarre.

I really dislike when names have mismatched gender. I do recognize that there are some traditionally unisex names, but I really get annoyed when names like James receive that treatment. It's trying too hard.
That poor girl is going to deal with her classmates and teachers being confused. James is super-masculine...she'll likely have to go by Jamie.

I'm getting really sick of hearing about celebrities naming their girls these masculine names: Lincoln, Wyatt, James. I get it, they're trying to be hipster and cool, so they either have to go super masculine or the food route like Olive Pumpkin, Apple Plum, or Lemon Poppy Seed. Well I guess Blake's name isn't all that feminine.

I agree, I like masculine nicknames that are short for longer feminine names (Charlie for Charlotte is super popular), but it is nice for the young girl to have the option.
