Could always shorten it to Gus or something? Or maybe use it as a middle name. Or use his middle name as his "use" name (for example, I know a little girl named Autumn Grace, but everyone calls her Gracie).
August is a bit of a tongue twister, but it's certainly not the only name that is. And I honestly think it'd be harder to say, "Augustus's toys," if you were using that variant. I guess I'm not sure how people usually handle this as most people I know seem to have much "easier" names.
