Tara -- Dated and 70s. People in the 70s thought it was so cool. It was the name of my sister's horse.Martha -- Quaint eighteenth century charm.Samantha -- Love it but don't like Sam for a girl.Rachel -- I don't think it's terrible, but there are Biblical names I like far more. Rebecca is one.Joanna -- Bland.Oswald -- Horrible and bad association but would be bad even without the association.Isaac -- Fine but I'm rather bored with it.Quentin -- Awesome. One of my two favorite boys' names.Dashiell -- Seems hard boiled 1940s and rather pretentious.Timon - Hate it like I do Timothy.

Tara - TAHra, yes; TARRa, no.
Martha - don't like the look or the sound; Marta is better but still not good
Samantha - I dislike Sam names
Rachel - pretty enough but bland
Joanna - very beautiful, but Jo is not to my taste at all, so safer as a mnOswald - as long as it stays Oswald, it's fine, but Ozzie etc are dreadful
Isaac - good meaning; good friend's good husband; not to my taste but OK
Quentin - I like it very much indeed
Dashiell - trying too hard to be, well, dashing
Timon - I actually prefer Simon, and I don't like Simon!

Tara I have never liked. I don't like the sound of it and I find it rather boring.Martha I love. It's "old", but in a good timeless way imo. I would even consider using it, but DH is not a big fan and neither are most of the people on here it would seem! Samantha is alright, there is nothing wrong with it. I just prefer the male version Samuel.Rachel I have always loved and find it to be another timeless classic. DH has a cousin with a little Rachel, who must be about 3 years old now. Joanna I don't mind, though I wouldn't use it myself.Oswald I find ugly and unappealing.Isaac is great, I love it. Love the meaning too.Quentin and Dashiell don't do anything for me. Nothing special.Timon is just the character from "The Lion King" to me, enough said.

Tara is really pretty and would age well. It sounds like the name of a super sweet, quiet girl.
Martha is ok, a little old but I love Marta. It feels so much fresher yet still classic because it's so close to Martha.
I've never liked Samantha, something about it just annoys me.
Rachel is just boring to me. I've known enough.
Joanna ages perfectly, it's beautiful on every age and it's recognizable without being overused.I like Oswald for two reasons: 1. the nickname Ozzie. 2. It was Ozzie Nelson's full name.I don't really like the sound of it and would prefer to use Ozias to get Ozzie, personally.
I love the meaning of Isaac SO MUCH but it's very popular right now and the sound is just ok for me.
Quentin is really handsome and I think it sounds stronger than Quinton.
I love Dashiell! I love that it's close to my brothers name so I could use it to honor him, I love Dash/Dashie as a nickname, I love the author, I think it's easy to read/pronounce yet not something you'd see all the time.
Timon has a nice sound but it's too Timon & Pumbaa to me. I think most people my age would automatically think of that.

Tara - lovely name. One of my favourite characters from 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer'. Can't think of a single drawback to this name.Martha - like it. Feels very warm and motherly, maybe a bit "old."Samantha - generally like it. I've known several Samantha, so it feels quiet popular/common.Rachel - love. I've known at least one Rachel (though she went by her 2nd name), but I most closely associate it with the very tragic Biblical character. It feels gentle and feminine but also a touch sad.Joanna - like. I know an older, very educated woman with this name (well, a variant: Johanna). It's pretty and kind of feels "wise" to me.Oswald - I don't really want to say I dislike it, but I kind of do. It's very strongly linked in my mind with Oswald Chesterfield Cobblepot aka The Penguin (of DC Comics and adaptations), so it's basically impossible for me to take seriously. Could make a decent middle name, though, I suppose.Isaac - love this one. Love the meaning, and it just sounds/looks nice. I think I know exactly one Isaac, and he's a kid/teen.Quentin - I'm neutral on this one, no really strong feelings in any direction. It feels a bit "upper crust," a bit "prep school." But not really in a bad way. Could make a nice middle name.Dashiell - dislike, mostly because I look at it and my brain goes, "What?!?!" I don't know how to pronounce it, and as someone who's always struggle with spelling, it's basically mocking me (lol). Could be really cute nn Dash, though...Timon - isn't this the name of that meerkat from The Lion King? I have trouble taking it seriously. I much prefer Timothy.

Tara: I generally like it. Not high on my mental list of perfered names but its still very nice
Martha: Dated. I just can't help but to envision some woman who is at least in her 50's. Also, I never cared much for the name.
Samantha: Nice name but bad espirences has soiled the name for me a bit
Rachel: see samantha. I met a Rachel who made me have second thoughts about removing the name from my list. Rachel was never an obsessed name of mine; just a name I generally liked and tolerated.
Joanna: Indifferent; I neither like nor dislike it
Oswald: I dislike it but not in a large amount. Its just dated and stuffy.
Isaac: Love.
Quentin\Daahielle\Timon: don't like\dont care for

Tara - it seems light and breezy, too much for my style but nice. I never assume it's TAH-ra or TAYR-a. I've known each.
Martha - very retro and heavy if you pronounce the th not as a t.
Samantha - nice. warm and friendly. Not a fave, just nms somehow.
Rachel - nice
Joanna - I like it.Oswald - old man. with nn Ozzy is alright.
Isaac - ok. serious. nms
Quentin - ok. spiffy. nms
Dashiell - a little too much dash for me; seems vaguely pretentious or characterish.
Timon - interesting. I'd rather spell it Tymon because the prn would be less ambiguous. I'm not a big fan of T names in general.

Tara is not a favorite of mine. For some reason it just bugs me.
Martha I've never really liked at all.
Samantha is my cousin's name, so I would probably consider using it because I like the sound and to honor her.
Rachel is a personal fave.
Joanna I don't like, even though I like Josephine "Jo" and Anna. Oswald seems nerdy and unattractive.
Isaac used to be a favorite, now it seems a bit too serious.
Quentin is cool.
I don't like the nn Dash, which seems like what Dashiell would always be called.
I don't like Timothy or Simon, and this name sounds like a hybrid of them (though it isn't).

What do you think of the following names?
Tara - not a favorite but like the meaning ("star")Martha - never liked it; but really like MartaSamantha - it's niceRachel - always liked this Joanna - don't care for it but like the nn JoOswald - there was a cartoon growing up with a character named this, so that's my thought. Don't like the sound.Isaac - not bad Quentin - I've only met one so it's kind of rare in my neck of the woods. It has a warm sound; nice, gentle name Dashiell - I like it and nn DashTimon - now is this pronounced like Ty-mon (there's a school around my hometown that uses this pronunciation) or Ti-mone like "Lion King"? Either way it's different and stands out

Tara- I like when it is pronounced TER-ə; I also like Terah as an alternate spelling.
Martha- just seems old and dated to me.
Samantha- cute.
Rachel- not so much, espcially after 7th grade when a girl named Rachel tried to pick a fight with me.
Joanna- I'm more or less indifferent to .Oswald- Unfortunately, I think of Lee Harvey Oswald, the man who shot John F. Kennedy.
Isaac- I'm indifferent to for the most part.
Quentin- Again, indifferent.
Dashiell- I just can't find it in me to like it.
Timon- It's ok.

Tara: I got nothin' against Tara. It's a solid name. Little dated, but not TOO dated. I haven't met very many of them.
Martha: Ugly as sin. Hate it. Kill it with fire.
Samantha: It's okay. It's "there". I have a cousin with this name.
Rachel: I'm not going to say, "I can't really have an opinion on this name because it's MINE, and I don't think of it as GOOD or BAD, it's just MINE." No. F**k that. This name is awesome. It's feminine without being princess-y, it's stable, it's just the right amount of ugly, it's like the Shaker table of names. Yup, that's me. Just call me Shaker Table. :P
Joanna: Very nice. I like it a lot. Love the NN Joey.Oswald: Cobblepot. Penguin. Too much Tim Burton as a kid.
Isaac: Eh. It's all right.
Quentin: I really like Quentin. It's cute.
Dashiell: Douchebaggy. Literary, though.
Timon:...and Puumba. I HAVE TO SAY IT, OKAY.

Your name is Rachel!!! Sorry, I just love finding out what online people's names are, and you're Rachel! I like Rachel, but the only Rachel I know in real life is very shy, and quiet, and over-polite. You seem really vibrant and fun.

Yup. Actually, it's spelled Rachael, but I don't discriminate against the -el form. It's the same name. :PThanks for the compliment. :) I used to be quiet and shy as a kid, and I can still be kind of shy in person, but I love engaging people, so I make myself talk. I should get a job where I do public speaking for a living, because I love it. :)

"it's just the right amount of ugly"that has to be the best description of a name I've ever heard xD
