In Bex's defence, Edwina is decently common in Australia. Not outrageously common but it is a name you definitely see around across all age groups. It very much fits into that category of name that everyone knows how to pronounce/spell and has likely seen before but you're unlikely to ever be in a workplace, group of friends or class with more than one Edwina.
I don't personally like Edwina but it wouldn't be a hindrance to a kid growing up in Australia. I think Winifred would be looked at by most non-name nerds in Australia as unfathomably ugly and I wouldn't want a name that was thought of as that ugly by others myself.
But yeah, Edwina and Winifred aren't on the same level of irredeemable where we come from :)
