Re: more dilemmas
There are some hard ones in here!Iris or Violet? - I like both. I think I like Iris better as a middle name and Violet better as a first name. I want to like Iris more as a fn and I think I like it more than Violet in theory and on other people's kids but it sounds great but I don't feel comfy calling it out. Irises are my favourite flower though so it is very much in the running as a mn option for me one dayGemma or Isla? - I prefer Isla. It ages better than Gemma. Gemma is also kind of dated where I'm from to my age group. I like both though.Audrey or Edith? - Adore both and could easily have two daughters named Edith and Audrey haha. Edith is my favourite girl's name so I'll go with that. I love the nickname Edie and I like the sound of Edith slightly better. Alice or Alyssa? - Alice, no contest. I hate the name Alyssa and the slithery sound of the 'liss'. Alice is sweet and ages well. I don't particularly like it a whole lot myself though.Philippa or Penelope? - Penelope. I find Philippa ugly (same with Philip for a boy). Pip or Pippa are appealing as nicknames but not enough for me to like Philippa. I adore Penelope.Silas or Cyrus? - Cyrus, although I find both a bit slimy. The 'r' sound takes some of the slimy sound away.Julian or Adrian? - Adrian. Julian is fine, I used to hate it because it was far too feminine sounding but now I don't mind it for someone else. Just not my style. I really like the rough 'adr' sound for a boy. Adrian is a name I always forget about- strong, historical, not overly common, familiar. It's nice.Raymond or Myron? - Raymond. Myron is so dorky. I just imagine a snotty little kid with big glasses and a pocket protector. Raymond is handsome, especially in its full form. I'm not keen on Ray as a nickname though.Sebastian or Xavier? - Xavier. Both are kind of pretentious but I don't dislike either one. I just like the sound of Xavier better.Damien or Dashiell? - Dashiell although not sold on either one. Damien is decently common for my age group back home and they always end up being nicknamed Damo and I dislike Damo haha. The whole devil thing doesn't bother me. Dashiell is way too self-conscious hipster who just wants to get the nickname Dash from it...but I actually really like the nickname Dash in a GP way. It's fun and lively.
