Mitchell or Marshall?
I always get these two mixed up, I always want to call someone named Mitchell Marshall and vice versa, so I thought I'd ask, which do you like more or hate less?

Marshall!!Mitchell is awful, I've known way too many no-hoper Mitchells. Marshall is far less popular with much more spunk. Plus, "Mitch"!? Yuck!

If I have to choose, I'd choose Mitchell because I love Joni Mitchell. Marshall is too military for my taste.

MarshallOF the two I'd choose Marshall, hands down. I can't stand "Mitch" (replace that M with a B)...

Mitchell, but I found both too surnamey.

Oh, neither.

I was in love with Marshall a few years ago but now I'm getting over it.
Mitchell does nothing for me though. So, I guess Marshall wins.

I guess maybe I prefer Mitchell because I think Mitch would be cute on a little one? I find both unattractive.

MarshallBut they are both ugly. Marshall makes me think of "how I met your mother".

MarshallI adore both though, but every time I think of 'M' name to use on the Games Board (or just in general) at the moment, Marshall seems to spring to mind more often than Mitchell right now.So, Marshall. :)

I quite like Marshall but a not a big fan of Mitchell. Although if Mitch didn't rhyme with bitch, I'd probably be okay with it.

Mitchell has a very Australian vibe; there's even an Ozzie cricketer called Mitchell Marsh! So I don't instinctively favour it, and since I could, but for circumstances, have been Mrs Marshall I suppose I'll go for Marshall - even though in real life I didn't.

I love Mitchell!

MarshallI don't love either, but Marshall has better (character) associations for me.

MitchellI love it!I don't think Marshall is pleasant.

MitchellI don't like either of them very much, but Mitchell has some personal significance to me, so I'll go with that one.

I like them both, but I would use Marshall, and not Mitchell. I never get them confused. There's an older couple on my block (70s) whose surname is Mitchell, and the man goes by Mitch. Everyone calls him that, even his wife. I think it's a spiffy name for an old guy although it would not appeal to me on a kid. Their daughter named her son Mitchell, and he goes by Mitchell. The kid is now about ... 13? I think. It seems like a good name on him. He's a cute kid.I think one reason I don't like Mitchell that much is because it seems especially surnamey - it's too obviously a form of Michael, and so I wanna know why not Michael. My neighbors have good reasons, but I don't. The other things I don't like about it are that Mitch sounds dated, like Gary or Steve, and also it resembles Michelle a little too much.Marshall was on our short list for a boy - probably name #4 or 5 if we hadn't agreed on something else - and I'm sure we would have used it as a middle name if we had had two boys because my husband wanted to honor a Marshall. I even think Marsh is cool. March is a GP of mine. Somehow, it does not bother me that Marshall sounds like Marsha, or that it is dated, or that it means military - I would name those things as reasons to dislike it if I disliked it, but I like it enough that I don't care about them.

MarshallI really liked Mitchell as a kid but now it seems wimpy, and I always just wish it was Michael. I don't particularly like Marshall but I respect it more.

MarshallI don't care for Mitchell much at all.

Marshall, hands down.
Mitchell's not awful, but the common nn Mitch is so wimpy and molktoasty it isn't even funny, except it is funny. I picture Mitch falling to pieces if his paper clips aren't all aligned in the same direction on his desk, and he sits there ripping at his cuticles and popping Maalox like it's candy.
