Considering Roald Dahl's sense of humour, that's more than likely correct.The name Veruca is associated with Veruca Salt, one of the nasty children in the book Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. She is a spoiled brat who eventually is declared a "bad egg" and is sent to the furnace. (There's also a band named Veruca Salt, after the character.)Array
