Unlisted names
How often do new names get added to the database on this site? The perfectionist in me really wants a couple of my favorites to be added so that they show up in my personal name list.Tavish - gaelic version of Thomas. "Twin?" That's what a couple of sources have said. This is the name we'd use for a boy. I'm actually surprised it's not listed on this site.Lilika / Lilike - some sources say Lilika is a Greek name for lily and Lilike is a Hungarian name meaning lily. I don't know.Katriel / Katrielle - I think it's usually a surname. Hebrew? I'd love to know more.Feel free to add any info you know about the above names. I'm actually not too into the origin/meaning stuff so I've never really paid much attention. But feel free to share if you know more.Any of your favorites not listed in this website?

TavishTavish information can be found here

The name Tavish comes from the Clan MacTavishWhat I don't know is if Taus or Tavis is actually a form of Thomas or if it was a Gaelic name that was anglicised to Thomas. Taus was the founder of the MacTamhais Clan which phonetically is spelled MacTavish. The name Taus (Tavis) dates back atleast to 1100 AD, which is when the Clan was founded. I know many gaelic names where just anglicised to biblical names- like Tadhg to Timothy even though the names are completely unrelated.

If you click on the "What's New" link on the main page you'll see the backlist of huge updates that Mike has done. I feel - not offended, but vaguely annoyed - that you asked if it "ever actually got done" without fully exploring the site's links. But nevermind.Lilike is not a Hungarian first name, but a Hungarian nickname. Hungary has a relatively restrictive policy on names, and Hungarians are limited to choosing names from an official list. Lilike is recognised as a nickname for the official names Liliána, Lilla and Lívia. The Hungarian Names List Website:
http://www.origo.hu/utonevtar/index.htmlIt's in Hungarian but all you need to know is that - approximately - Keresztnév means First Name (ie Christian Name), Becenév means Nickname, Férfi név means Male Name and Nõi név means Female Name.Lilla:

About every 6-7 months, on averageAnd the updates usually have "themes" to them. The past few have centred around lesser-represented ethnicities (Russian, Greek, etc.).Katriel's a male Hebrew name, and Hebrew Letters says it means "God is my crown". The proper Hebrew fem. form of it is Katriela, and etymologically speaking Katriel for a girl is like naming her Gabriel.I've seen Lilika and Tavish before, but can't recall anything off-hand about them.EDIT: Forgot a word, d'oh!

You can submit a name through the following page:http://www.behindthename.com/submit/submit.phpMike Campbell is very busy, so it may take a few months before any names you suggest are added. But he will add most eventually, if you give good references.
