HI, i think the name Will stands for a strong person, and good hearted.

For Elias, I think of a straight-forward, caring person. For Alexei, I think of a really sweet, goofy person. For Will, I think of an intellegent, kind, but sometimes harsh person.

well Elias i think a strong character, quiet, intelligent, and caring. Alexei makes me think of a goofball, someone who always has to be the center of attention, not melodromatic, but a comedian. and Will makes me think of someone with strong morals, who sticks to what they think is right. hope that helps.

Will, I think he is some kind of very very ordinary man. Properly wear suit and glasses, he might be a little supervisor of a small department in a huge business. He has no hope, no dream, and respected by no one. Well, I think inside he's a nice man, just no one care to find out.

ELIAS is shy and intelligent, but not the nerd type. more of a quiet observer who knows more than he lets on.
ALEXEI is one of those people who act all hard and tough but really theyre hiding something.
WILL is a perfectionist whos bossy and self centered.

I'm writing a story too. Cool!
When I hear the name Elias, it think of someone very brave or very smart.
The name Alexei - i think of someone i know. But Alexei to me sounds stuck up and rude.
Will - if its short for William, he seems funny, spaztic, just a real comedian.
Someone in my story is named Will. He's just what i described.

Elias - Kinda of geeky, smart but meek
Alexei - Very strong and powerful, tall, dark hair, dark eyes, very rich
Will - A generally nice, decent guy, maybe an entrepreneur

Tell me what your perception of them is before you read this. Of course different people will see them differently. I know three 'Julia's besides myself, and they are not a bit alike, but the name fits perfectly. It is very uncommon in real life to find someone who's name doesn't fit them. I have seen it in a few badly written books, but not often. When you start writing, if the names don't fit, you'll know right off; unless you're a very poor writer. But I don't think ANYONE who WANTS to write is: I think that a poor writer is a person who says, "Oh, how fun! I'm going to write a book!" with no prior experience, or someone who cannot put their thought on paper. (That just takes training.)
I see Elias as a slight, maybe frail boy, with great strength of mind, and stong principles. Alexei: Alex makes me think tall, handsome, bold, and daring; but the -ei ending sounds frail again. That is probably from reading the Royal Diary book by Scholastic about Anastasia, and her little brother.
I agree with Beth and Emily about Will. Strong and courageous, quiet, pleasant, caring, handsome. Hero-type, but not dashing. Quiet, but not shy. Good luck with your book! I just finished my first, and I'm researching publishing stuff.

i agree that you can make your audience believe anything about a character by how you write them, but at the same time, people become their names, too. i see:Elias: a wise old man, or a geeky kid
Alexei: cheerleader type, popular and maybe snobby (or a smiley 2 year old)
Will: hero type, good, strong, handsome

i should have said that i also perceive Alexei as female, although it is a male name, because it reminds me of the name Alexa.used for a male, i would stick with Alex, as it would be more understandable to your general audience, UNLESS he is from Russia.(just my thoughts...)

Elias - ive never heard this name before, so i dont know, im taking its female, and since the first part is El, i would see her as beeing very femine.
Alexei - once again im taking its a girl, im not sure, but i love that name! i could see her being either a tom boy r prepy kind of person. if its a boy, i see him as being mascilne
Will - caring, sweet, mentor type beson!hope that help! and dont mind what the others were saying if u want to know others opion u want to know they shouldnt give out to you for asking!

For goodness' sake, lady, it's YOUR novel. What do you mean, you've got names for the characters and you want to know what kind of people have those names? Aren't you working backwards? If you are any kind of writer, you are in charge of your characters. Write a steamy romance, and your talent will make your readers accept the main female character even if her name is Irmintrude. Write about a man named Will, and make him either very strong-minded or not at all, and people will believe you. Why on earth, on the information you've provided, should you believe us?
