HelpHobbit names (female)
Here are the names of all of the female hobbits in Tolkien's works that I could find. I think this is all of them. As you can see, a lot of the names are flowers, or jewels to a lesser extent. Frodo himself states that about half the female hobbits get named after flowers. I starred all the flower/plant names.

Adaldrida -Too much, but great for a Hobbit.
Adamanta -not my style, but sounds like a name I would have once used in Lord of the Rings fanfiction. I mean, not that Iwrote Lord of the Rings- oh, whatever. I was young, okay?
Angelica * -Don't like it anywhere, ever.
Alfrida -Too human. This name seems like it would belong better in Rohan.
Amaranth * -lovely.
Amethyst -cool for a Hobbit.

Asphodel * -cool. Reminds me of Astrophel.
Belba -Better as a nickname.
Bell -cute
Belladonna * -Should be the bad character because of the poisonous name.
Berylla -Depends on where you accent this one. Accent on the first syllable isn't cute, but accent on the second is okay.
Camellia * -cute
Chica -nmsaa
Cora -adorable
Daisy x3 * -There were a lot of Daisys, weren't there? Sam had a sister and daugher named Daisy, right? (Or was that May?)
Diamond -Pippin's lovely lass. :)
Dina -nms, but could work well as a hobbity nickname.
Donnamira -cute for a Hobbit
Dora -again, short form of something only.
Druda -ditto
Eglantine * -Who was this again? Pippin's mom? Not my style, but works well for a Hobbit lady.
Elanor * -Sam's daughter. Aww. Like it. Preferred this spelling to Eleanor for years. Maybe still do.
Esmeralda -Merry's mom! Love it!
Estella -Merry's wife's name is my favourite name ever.

Interesting notes...
A lot of the names that are not flowes or jewels, like Dora, Nina, and Tanta, are not supposed to mean anything in the hobbits' language. It was just something they used for so long because they probably liked it.
I'm guessing Firiel (the name of Elanor's daughter) was used because of Elvish influence. There was at least one other Firiel - a woman of Gondor.
The three Daisys were: Sam's sister, one of his daughters, and one of Frodo's cousins. May was the name of one of Sam's other sisters, as well as the name of his father's sister. (Marigold was his third sister.)
Supposedly, the lobelia flower symbolized ill will in the Victorian language of flowers. This probably inspired Tolkien to use it on a bad-tempered character.
Pimpernel was a Took as well. Pippin's three sisters were Pearl, Pimpernel, and Pervinca. Pippin was the youngest and the only boy. And yes, Eglantine was Pippin's mother.
Merry and Estella did have at least a son (who inherited his father's title), but Tolkien never said his name.

God, I used to LOVE the Lord of the Rings. I remembered more and less than I thought I did.
That explains Firiel! It's cool for that then. :)
Poor Pippin's siblings were mostly horribly named- except Pearl which is okay.
I do remember that Sam had a son named Tolman and "tollman" is german means like "crazy person" or something like that.
Tolkien must have had fun with names. The Brandybucks were my favourites.

Wow. What a list. I have to say I'm in a Germanic mood this morning, at least where hobbits are concerned. I'm really digging:
Adaldrida (prefer Etheldreda)
Alfrida (cousin to Alfreda / Elfriede / Elfreda?)
Eglantine (not Germanic per se, but that "egg" sound is irresistable)
Gerda (zing!)
Hilda / Hildegarde
Myrtle (again, not Germanic -- just a personal favorite)
Tolkien missed an opportunity with Ermenegilda.

RE:Ermengilda..our former provincial Lieutenant-Governor was named Hermengilde.He's French-speaking,so I assume that's the male, French version of the name.
