Meaning & History
From the Greek Αριστειδης (Aristeides) which meant "the best kind", derived from αριστος (aristos) "best" and ειδος (eidos) "kind, type". This name was borne by the 5th-century BC Athenian statesman Aristides the Just, who was renowned for his integrity. This was also the name of a 2nd-century saint.
