This Brazilian pronunciation is mostly used by native speakers of Rio de Janeiro only. Where I live, we'd say something like u-rees-chee-deehs, or u-rees-chee-dehs.
In Spanish, this name is more commonly spelled Arístides (and thus pronounced [a-REES-tee-dehs]). [noted -ed]

I searched for it on this site but the closest I got to was Aristides. I'm curious as to what's the origin and how I got this name knowing my parents have no relative in Spain (As far as I know).
My grandfather was named Aristides, and I was named after him in a way (It's my middle name and I'm female so it was actually 'Aristea')To cut a long story short, both this name and its feminine counterpart are really beautiful in my opinion and if it were up to me, I wouldn't change a thing about my middle name.

It is great to finally find out the origin of my own name ARISTEA. Knew it had something to do with excellence and being the best. =)
ARISTEA pronounced Ah-rist-EH-ah - I was named after my grandfather Aristides and the form is rare to find in Greek or any name meaning search.
