Brent

It's too dated.

I don't HATE it, but I dislike it. There are worse names out there.

I prefer Brett.

My boyfriend is a Brent... never did I know what I found out about him just by reading the information here. He thinks he’s funny but he comes across and says he’s choking under his breath lol. He’ll say he’s being sacastic but he always sounds so serious about anything! But we’re quite different from the other but somehow it works and I’m pretty much in love with him for some reason!

I think of a stereotypical, blonde, dim-witted but 'charming' high school football jock.

Brent is my husband's name. I found it uncomfortable to say. So I call him Pooks or Brenticus because he makes his own armour swords and shields.

I like the name Brent. It has a nice sound. I especially like the fact that it has no nickname as I usually dislike nicknames. I'm grateful my first name also has no nickname. My preference is always someone's full given name. I mean if you are going to call Benjamin or Benedict by the nickname Ben then why not just name the kid Ben to start with.

My middle name is Brent and it's the name I was called growing up. I always thought it was a nerdy name and felt my first name, Derek, was much cooler. I briefly made an attempt to be called "Derek" when I started 7th grade but it became obvious that it was an impossible task as long as I was around many of the same classmates.
After high school and a move to another town, I was finally able to "rename" myself. Eventually even some friends I'd known from my hometown got used to calling me Derek.
My family will always call me Brent, and I eventually came to feel that Brent is a good name. Even if it is a bit nerdy, nerds get more respect now than they did back in the 70s.

My husband is named Brent and I think it is strong and modern. I admit I can't come up with a nick-name for it.

Brent is a very masculine name. It reminds me of some upscale playboy of the 20's. I really like this name!

This is my name, and although it seems rather uncommon today, in the early-to-mid 1980's when I was in junior high and high school, I was one of three Brent's in my grade (class size of about 200). Overall, I like the name and appreciate that it is now somewhat rare and unique. I'm also thankful that I never had to endure any bad nicknames or other name-calling with this name. "Brent" seems to be largely immune to that kind of easy schoolyard ridicule. Given my experience with it, I think "Brent" is a very good name to consider when naming a male child, either as a first or possibly for a middle name.

The only downside I've encountered regarding my name is the number of ways that people have found to mispronounce or misspell it! The single syllable name "Brent" seems like it should be easy to get right, but often I find myself having to correct people from calling me "Bret" or "Brett", both of which seem more common. I've also seen people misspell it as "Brant", "Brandt", or "Brad", and a there were even a few instances where people erroneously called me "Kent", or "Trent". The worst of all was "Krent" in an official school publication.

I don't really care for this name, it's way too singular since there don't seem to be any good nicknames for it, if I had a son this would not be near my first picks.

I like it. It only fits certain kind of people though.

I'd never use this name for my son, I'm not really sure why not but I do think it's a cute name for a little boy. :]

This name is like, so masculine.

I like it, but I've never met anyone by this name. Must not be a very popular name, at least not in my area. I named the main character of one of my stories Brent, though, since I like it so much. As long as it doesn't get too popular, when I grow up, if I have a son, I'll totally name him Brent, heh.

I have been influenced by an acquaintance, but I really don't like this name at all. The Brent I knew was lazy and annoying.

Nice name but has to have the right person to back it up.
