Meaning & History
Means "slave of Christ", derived from Greek Χριστός (Christos) combined with δοῦλος (doulos) meaning "slave". Noted bearers include Christodoulos, a Greek Patriarch of Alexandria between 907 and 932; Christodulus (d. 1131), the first emir of Palermo; Christodoulos Aronis (1884-1973), a Greek fine artist, professor and priest; and Archbishop Christodoulos of Athens (1939-2008).
