In the movie Not Without my Daughter, Sally Field's daughter was named this. Mahtab's dad was Iranian.

Her daughter's name is actually spelt Mahtob. The movie is based on a true story, and I'm in the middle of reading the book at the moment. It's definitely spelt Mahtob.

It's a beautiful name, but unfortunately it's been ruined for me by that horrible movie Not Without My Daughter.
