Means "avenging murder" in Greek, derived from τισις (tisis) meaning "vengeance" and φονη (phone) meaning "murder". This was the name of one of the Furies or Ερινυες (Erinyes) in Greek mythology. She killed Cithaeron with the bite of one of the snakes on her head.
