The Italian pronunciation of Violetta is vee-o-LET-ta.

I absolutely adore this name, it's one of my favourites. When you hear it pronounced the Italian way - I haven't heard the Russian way - it is a strong and assertive name, that also has a rather romantic sound.

Coming from an Italian background myself, Violetta sounds much better than the English name of "Violet", which is very passive and weak.

My mother's name is Violetta (we are Russian), she is coldly beautiful woman and very tough, burst-type, I might add. There is nothing sweet or flower-ish about her. Therefor, for me this is very strong and powerful name.

There is a band called Darling Violetta. They did the theme song for the "Angel" series.

I quite like this name; it's very unusual and foreign-sounding to English ears. :-)

I like this name better than Violet, because it's not so close to the word violent, and the flowers and Italian language are very beautiful, of course. It also sounds like 'via letter', which is amusing.

The main character in the Disney Chanel series Violetta. Martina Stoessel plays Violetta.

This is a beautiful name. It's a shame that it had to be used by that stupid telenovela.

Violetta takes away the 'violent' sound of Violet. I'm on the fence with this one.

Sounds very delicate yet strong, which I have no idea how it works but it just does. It sounds feminine but not girly and it sounds youthful but mature. Great name. Some nicknames are Violet, Lola, Viola, Vivian,

Also used in Hungary. Pronounced: VI-o-let-taw. [noted -ed]

I think most English speakers would assume this was pronounced like Violet with an ah at the end. Vi-uh-let-ta. Like someone said above, it sounds like via-letter. Or vile-etta, vial-etta. The vee-ah-letta Italian pronunciation is a nice surprise and reminds me of viennetta the ice cream dessert, which is yummy.
