Meaning & History

Perhaps a misspelling of Winebald. Saint Winewald (died c. 731), also known as Winebald, was the second abbot of Beverley monastery in England, succeeding Saint Berchtun. He was successful in his efforts to make Beverley a center for English cultural and spiritual growth.
