I love Laurel, but would be concerned that she would be called Laura or Lauren all the time. And while Laura is a fine name (don't like Lauren), I think Laurel is so much nicer and prettier.

I posted on this a bit ago, but it's slowly climbing to the top of my list. I prn. it LUH-rel though with my hick-accent, so Laurel Kathleen is just okay. LAWR-el Kathleen may be nicer, but it's hard for me to say, lol.

It's pretty. I like it well enough, though I much prefer Laura or Lauren. I don't see Laurel being used much around here, because the nearby town is Laurel. There's a certain type of hairstyle that is considered typical of the town of Laurel: long, frizzed and highly sprayed so it is one solid mass of frizz. It's called Laurel Hair. lol

I always think of Lollie in Stella Dallas when I hear it--a good association for me. She's a little bit dull sans her mother, but she's a sweet, pleasant kid.

I think Laurel Kathleen appeals to me more than Laurel Katarina, honestly. The latter feels a little mismatched. I could see Laurel Catalina, though, and I think that would be lovely. Laurel Kathleen, however, sounds soft and sweet to me, and I don't think that's anything to sniff at. It just means that no one'll see her coming, and the element of surprise can be handy. ;)

Laurel Kathleen is fantastic (and I dislike Kathleen a lot, so that's saying something). Laurel Katarina is a bit fluffy for me.

I like Laurel. It's a refreshing variant of Laura, but it still has depth to it. Laurel Kathleen is fresh and youthful. Laurel Katarina is her spicier double personality, you're right.

Laurel could be a nn for something you'd like better. Laurentine ("LOR-en-teen"), Laurentia, Lauriane, Lorelei, Hannelore, Lorena ("lor-AY-na")? Of course this might take your mn in a completely different direction. Laurentine Katarina, nn Laurel?
