I love John! I also really like Jonathan. It is not dated it all, it the basically the most classic name. Both but espically John have a lot of history, which is great. Both are common, but not boring.

For a nickname of a full name, I love Jack. I really Jonathan with the nickname Jon. Jon spelled this way, to me, is just a nicknname for Jonathan, not a full name.

I would use it for either a first or middle name. I only have two names picked out for my future sons, William and Alexander, so I might use it if I had more than two sons.
