Help[Opinions] Silas!
Sorry for the somewhat-close-in-time posts.
I know I've mentioned it before, but I'm really head-over-heels for Silas right now. I know it doesn't need a nickname at all (and I'd probably usually just use plain Silas,) but I've thought about them nonetheless. Sal has a very sentimental connection to me; do you think it works as a nickname for Silas? And Cy, now I know the sound "Sigh" works as a nickname for Silas, but how would you spell it? I like Cy because of Cy Twombly, but I realise the spelling doesn't make any sense with Silas.
So, Sal or Cy or both or neither or what?
Oh and also, Silas Dorian? Is Silas Oscar too hissy? Silas Valentine? Silas Roman? Silas Morgan?

I think Sal would be a good nickname for Silas. Obviously Cy works too, but I see your predicament. Although I don't think it's a big deal to spell it Cy. That reminds me of a birth announcement from my area I saw. Cylus. Looked cool, until I realized it was probably supposed to be Silas. I wonder if they had the Cy probelm and that was their solution?
Silas Oscar does have too much S for me. Silas Morgan is nice. Very Civil War Era.

I love the name Silas! I'm not sure how it'd actually go on a kid, it seems like a bit of a heavy name for a five year old, but then again, I guess it's the kind of name you grow into instead of growing out of.
Sal works as a nickname, I guess, and Si [as mentioned by someone else] is still a better bet than Cy. Cy just doesn't make sense, and Si sounds just the same... besides, how often would any theoretical Silas get his nickname actually written down? I know a lot of people who go by Si...uh, Simons for one, and it works.
As for middle names, I love the name Oscar, but I guess Silas Oscar has too many s sounds. Maybe it'd work with a surname which would balance it out? Silas Morgan and Silas Dorian are good, but I've never been entirely sure on whether Dorian is -too- pretentious or -too- Oscar Wilde or just a good name.

I think Sal is acceptable as a nn, and Cy would go well too. HOwever, I do understand that it is an odd nn spelling for Silas. I would probably just use Si, it doesn't look the best, but you wouldn't be writing it down often anyway, and anyone who was, would know it's pronounced Cy.
