Nope, not a typo. Can't tell you how many people I have seen spelling Michael : Micheal. It's a shame. I just don't get it!!!

Mícheál is the Irish form. I guess Micheal is a varient of that, or people just like this spelling better.

My son is Michael, and sometimes people spell it Micheal.

Same with my dh, he's Brian and some spell it Brain.
