[Opinions] Samantha
For some reason, I've had this name in my mind recently. Is it dated? Tacky?

I think it is a bit dated, but I still like it in spite of the fact that I dislike a fair number of Samanthas. I find it rather pretty, but I am probably in the minority.
Both, I'm afraid! It goes back further than one might think, but it had that popularity surge and then rebounded.
I dislike it, but then I don't like Sam(uel) for boys either and nor do I enjoy Amanda or Araminta, so take it whence it comes.

Sooo nineties here. I know atleast eight Samanthas. I personally really, really dislike it because of my associations with it.
I like it! I don't really think of it as dated or anything, especially since it's still so popular. I feel like I don't hear it much, actually - I suppose that's because most of them just go by Sam. It's very pretty.
My cousin's name is Zamantha, but yes, it's dated and boring.
I don't mind it. I prefer Samara more though.
I think it's overused, dated, dull, unattractive and slimey.
I can't imagine why anyone would think it was dated, since it's still very popular, at least in the US. It isn't at all tacky, either, at least IMO. I love the name. It's really beautiful and rather sexy.
I know lots of girls named Samantha, so I suspect it will become dated later. I don't much care for the sound, but it's a real etymological oddity. This site says that it's a feminine Samuel with the "popular" suffix antha, but there are only two others names with that suffix, and one of them is clearly based on Samantha. Fascinating.
I don't find it tacky, it's a new classic name. I hate it though, I do find it dated and wouldn't want MAN in my name, same reasons why I hate Amanda.
I just find it dull. It is fine, but nothing special.
It's kind of nice, but flat. Samantha is not dated or tacky, but I see it as tired -- and I'm one of those people who's bothered by 'man' in the middle.

I think it's lovely, not at all dated or tacky. There are a few Samanthas in my kids classes.
