[Opinions] Misty
What do you think of Misty? I like it, based upon its sound, but I can't shake the feeling that it's tacky somehow.

I totally agree. BTW, when James and I were dating, we were in a restaurant talking about feminine names that lack dignity. Misty was on the list as was Bambi. As it turned out, a lady named Bambi sat at the next table and overheard our conversation. Let's just say she blew a gasket -- LOUDLY! And the funny thing is, she WAS a Bambi and fit the stereotype exactly. ;-)

It does seem really tacky to me. It's not a serious name at all. It makes me think of a hooker or something.

I used to like it, but now I think it's tacky. It is also the name of my grandma's dog.

It sounds like a name I'd expect a Playboy bunny to have!

I think it's tacky. It's more of a pet's name than a person's.

I don't like it. I think it's a little bit tacky, along with names like Amber, Jade, etc.

Personally, I really like this name. My parents were actually considering this name for me, but decided it sounded too much like a horse's name... :(

It has a hooker vibe. Sorry to anyone named Misty.

I really like Misty, honestly. Though it's probably because Misty from Pokemon was my favorite character. But I do think it's a nice name. I doubt I would ever use it, though, because I know people do think it's tacky, which is unfortunate IMO.

I first think of Misty from Pokemon too :). I like Misty, but I think this is more a pet name than human name.

I like it okay. It is a lovely sounding name and it makes me think of horses because of Misty of Chincoteague. It also makes me think of Pokemon though (which I guess shows what age group I'm in, haha) It is tacky feeling though, like someone getting misty-eyed.

Hey. I'm 28 and I like Pokemon. I'm really only a responsible adult when I need to be. :)Misty is fine on pets (my aunt & uncle used to have a dog named Misty, and I have a good friend with a long-haired gray and white cat named Misty). I have to agree with the previous posters, though, that it is tacky on a real person.

I had a cat named Misty as a small child so this is of course my first association. Misty is a common pet name. My only other exposure to the name is from American talk shows like Jerry Springer or Rikki Lake, so I guess that's where the trashy vibe comes from for me personally. I always remember those guests as having names like Misty and Destiny and Krysti and Staci and so on.

No offense to any Mistys out there, but the name has a tacky feel for me. I like the image of mist though.

I used to use this as a filler middle name for my stuffed animals when I was little. I like its sound and imagery, but I think it's tacky on a real person.
