[Opinions] Damian, Zarek, Alexander
Since you've all been so helpful with input on our girl name, I thought I might as well ask for feedback on the boy name!My wife is pretty set on Damian as a first name. That's fine with me. My only concern is that my name, Adrian, sounds very similar. But I guess the worst that could happen is that we both come running when she calls one of our names. :)We're thinking about double middle names, and she's mentioned that she likes both the names Alexander and Zarek. Alexander is a little *too* common for my taste, but I admit it's a good, strong, solid name for a boy, and I'd have no problem with it as a middle. Zarek is a name she came across in a book series she's reading ... I see that it's here at BtN as a user-submitted name, and a few other sites around the Web seem to corroborate that it means "Ba'al protect the king," with Assyrian roots, used mostly in Poland today. I'm fine with that name, too. Offbeat but (IMO) not totally off the wall, and I do like the initial Z sound. So ...Damian Zarek Alexander?Or just ...Damian Alexander?Or maybe you like both? Or neither? All feedback welcome. Thanks!

I like Damian Zarek, because I like the syllable variation. Three, two.Damian Alexander sounds nice, too. Damian Zarak Alexander is a bit of a mouthful, but you like that :) Looks like you can't lose.

I love the Dark Hunters series by Sherrilyn Kenyon!Between Damian (from The Omen) and Zarek, this is a pretty bada** combo. I intensely dislike Alexander, though (it's a personal thing). I would prefer the combo Damian Zarek......but, then, it's not my kid. :)

I'm just happy my wife likes this combo. :) I'm not a big fan of Alexander, but I'm not gonna complain, either. Now, off to read some Sherrilyn Kenyon!

Damian Zarek Alexander is ok but I love just Damian Alexander. It's one of my favorites on my name list for boys :) But I don't think there is anything wrong with all three being used at the same time at all. so good luck choosing!

Damian and Adrian sound a bit alike, but not too much. It's definitely usable. And Zarek is pretty cool. What book series is it from? I met someone once named Zarek, and I always wanted to know where it came from.I really like Damian Zarek Alexander.

She got Zarek from the Dark Hunter series by Sherrilyn Kenyon. I guess Zarek is a recurring character throughout the series but also has his own book where he's the main character. I'm going to have to check it out for myself, to see what kind of guy our kid may be middle-named after. :)

I love Damian Zarek Alexander. Unless you have a long last name I would go for it. Damian Alexander is nice too, though.

Yeah, we have a very short, one-syllable last name, so we have the luxury of going crazy with longer names. :)Thanks for your feedback!

Omen and the evil kid ruined Damian for me for ever. I just can't like it. All I can think of is that kid.
I love Alexander as a middle name. It's so handsome and classic. It's much better as a middle name than as a first name in my opinion. Zarek is interesting. Not my style but it goes very well with the other two names and I think Damian Zarek Alexander has a great flow. I really like the sound of it. Damian Alexander is a bit bland in comparison. Zarek makes it a lot more interesting.

Yes, I agree about the blandness of Damian Alexander. I mean, it has a great sound and cadence, but it's as if it needs something to spice it up a little.See, I think this is why my wife has let me loose on baby names. I love her dearly, but her name choices are mostly pretty conventional -- Alexander, Sebastian, Benjamin, Trevor, Jacob, Michael. All perfectly wonderful names, but none of them really jump out at me. But when she hit on Damian, that struck a chord with me, and that's why it's our leading contender now. Meanwhile, I'm off throwing all kinds of fanciful girl names at her, and she's been wonderfully indulgent and patient with me, bless her. I can appreciate how the movie ruined the name Damian for a lot of people. What I find odd is that *my* name, Adrian, was the name of the son of Satan in Rosemary's Baby, yet no one seems to make that connection the way they do with Damian! Somehow, my name got off the hook. All I get are the stupid "Yo, Adrian!" jokes. :)

I like both Damian Zarek Alexander and Damian Alexander.
Damian Alexander sounds stronger and more masculine, but if you want two middle names or a more unusual name, then Damian Zarek Alexander is a good choice. I'm happy as long as Alexander is in there somewhere, I love that name! I would say that Adrian and Damian are too close for siblings, but not for father and son. Sarek (this spelling) is also a Swedish folk-pop band, and it's the first thing that comes to mind. But after all, I'm Swedish and I guess that you wouldn't meet a lot of people with this association.

I like Damian, and I don't think it's too similar to Adrian.
I like Zarek well enough, and I think it's a "good influence" on Alexander because of its offbeat-ness. I don't really like double middle names in general, but Damian Zarek Alexander (or Damian Alexander Zarek?) seems a lot less bland than Damian Alexander. Damian Alexander is good too, but without Zarek it would tend to blend into the background.
Would you use Damian Zarek or do you want to make sure Alexander is in there?

I don't think I'd use Zarek on its own. If it goes in, it would probably be as a double middle. She's pretty fond of Alexander, so I'm pretty sure that will make up part of the name. I, too, find Damian Alexander a little on the plain side, so I'm all for adding the Zarek to spice things up a little bit.I guess I don't have a strong opinion on the order. To me, Damian Zarek Alexander has a better cadence than Damian Alexander Zarek. But our last name is a short, single-syllable name that wouldn't conflict with either combo.
