[Opinions] Re: Beatrice/Beatrix (edited)
I like Beatrice. I know three girls with the name. One goes by Bea most of the time and is a very intelligent, beautiful and polite 9 year old. I also know a woman in her late 30s named Beatrice who always goes by Bimbo. Don't ask me why, I think it's horrible. She's very outgoing, fun and full of energy. The third one I know is a teenager. I don't really think she's that great I remember her always telling me about sexual encounters she had with a boy on a playground when she was 13. She couldn't be any more different from the other two Beatrices I know. She actually made me dislike the name for a while because it made me think of her. But the other two saved it for me.My favorite pronunciation of Beatrice is BEE-ah-tris. I quite like Bea or even Bee as a nickname.I never really liked Beatrix. The -trix part made me think of "tricks" which then made me think of someone who is unfaithful and tricks other people. Also I dislike the nicknames Trix and Trixie. It's harsh and not as elegant as Beatrice. I know four girls/women with the name at the moment. One is way over 80 and one is about 5. The other two are in their early 20s. The Beatrixs in their early 20s sometimes go by Trixie.I also know two girls named Bea, but one pronounces it BEE and the other BAY-a. BEE is about 10, BAY-a is in her mid 20s.I definitely prefer Beatrice over Beatrix. Much more elegant and friendly. I sometimes see colors when I hear or see names and Beatrice is a very dark blue mixed with black and dark purple. Very elegant. Beatrix is yellow and too bright. I kind of like Bellatrix. Even though I would probably not use it.Beatrice and Florence would be great for siblings. No, I prefer Beatrice and Florence.Beatrice Fay
Beatrice Noelle
Beatrice Catherine
Beatrice Phoebeit's actually a bit hard to find good middle names for it :Pedited: I remembered that I know one more Beatrix who is a teenager. She pronounces it bay-AH-trix. I always thought it was so weird how she emphasized the second syllable.

Oh how strange, we see the same colours but for the opposite name! I see Beatrice as being yellowy, golden-ish and Beatrix as being sort of midnight blue colour. :D

Oh, goody! Another synaesthete!I always see names (and words) in colour - because B is dusky pink, all names starting with that letter are dusky pink too! L and S and W are particularly attractive - all (tasteful) shades of yellow.

Haha, I'm one too. And it's funny, I see S and L as yellow too - y and c are too, W is more bronze.B is dark blue, sort of navy. Beatrix ends up woodsy blues and greens, which I like, Beatrice is much brighter with the C and silent E. But in pronunciation, Beatrix is too pointy for my taste.

There are lots around hereI didn't know I was one until coming here and being like... oh, that's not normal? :P I think it's part of the reason why we like names so much. They're a lot more fun when they have colors, textures, personalities, smells/tastes, etc.!

The reason why I suggested Beatrice Catherine was because Beatrice is black with dark blue and purple and Catherine is white. I thought the colors went well together :P It's not that great in sound, unfortunately :P
