[Opinions] Veronica vs. Samantha
Don't base your answer on popularity, but which one would you go with and why?

Veronike
This is one instance where I have a strong preference for a more unusual spelling.

Samantha, no contest
I prefer the sounds of Samantha over Veronica, hands down. I tend to enjoy "v" sounds in names, but "ver" as the first sound doesn't suit me. I also prefer the look of Samantha. Samantha has sweetness, warmth and friendliness that, for me, Veronica lacks. With Samantha, I get images of sunshine and fields of flowers. Veronica feels more urban, "edgy", aloof.

Veronica, hands down (includes cute nicknames).
I've never liked "Sam" - not for Samuel, Samantha, nor any similar name. I don't know what it is about "Sam" that irks me so much, but I don't like it.
Veronica has always been, to me, a "cool" name. It's kind of long and has lots of history, but also isn't super-elegant or "liquid-sounding." It's spunky, and a girl can have it her whole life (it ages well).
I knew two Veronicas in high school, one Hispanic (Argentinian) and the other African-American and Brazilian. The first went by Vero (with a rolled 'r'), and the latter went by Veva (pronounced like "Viva").

Veronica.
Though I like Sam quite a bit, I've always disliked Samantha (and Samuel), and I can't really put my finger on what it is about it that puts me off. Veronica is not a real favorite of mine, but it does sound plucky and intelligent. I picture a Veronica as someone confident who is not afraid to speak her mind. Samantha's just blah.

I would go for Veronica because I prefer the name and I like the nickname Nica
What is interesting about these two names is that they both have male nicknames (Ron/Ronnie and Sam/Sammy). I actually like both names, but I like Veronica more.
Veronica is just flat out more interesting to me. It has more strength and substance. The nn options are more interesting as well.
I'm biased toward Samantha, since its my name.
I do like both while neither are on my list. I like Samantha, mostly because its my name and i do like my nickname quite a bit.
Id still choose Veronica. I knew a girl named this and she went by Roni, or Nica. I like that its similar to Victoria but has its own flare.
