Joan has got tremendous medieval strength and energy, and would be a welcome change from all the Joanne, Jo-Ann etc people. Joanna is good too, but not a two-syllable version.
I'd love to see lots of little Joan girls, but the fashion seems to be for either the androgynous or the excessively frilly! OTOH, just about anything goes, so let the good Joans roll.
