Help[Opinions] Jennifer or Jessica?
They were both extremely common in the past and I am curious to read which one you prefer and why. Have you met more girls named Jessica or Jennifer?

Jennifer, I think. I've met lots of Jennifers and Jessicas. Probably more Jennifers, honeslty. But, I dunno, Jennifer seems more substantial to me, and I've known lots of great Jens. Plus, I really love the nickname Jenny!
Jessica I don't like very much, but I do think Jessie is a cute nickname. I don't care for Jen or Jess, though.

I've met an equal amount of both in my life, though in my age group (born 1991) Jessica was more common, and I've seen more Gen-Xers named Jennifer.
As far as sound by itself is concerned, I prefer Jennifer. It really is a pretty name, just completely played out.

I don't particularly like either name much so I'm looking to the nicknames to make my decision.
It goes to Jennifer - simply because I prefer Jenna over Jess, Jessa or Jessie.
I was born in the 90's and went to school in the 00's in England - by that point Jennifer was well over but I grew up with quite a few Jessicas.

Jessica, it's got a nicer history, sounds better and seems less boring.

I've met more Jennifers I think. I slightly prefer Jessica although I don't like either name. They are too dated and too common.

I was talking about this very topic to someone yesterday when yet another 1970s Jennifer popped up on screen. They said Jennifer is "alright" but they can't stand Jessica - I pointed out that Jessica is Shakespearean and kind of classic and therefore sort of timeless. I know several Jessicas ranging in age from four to seventy. The oldest Jennifer I know is seventy-five and the youngest fifteen (on her it seems rather dated). The name is okay but I just don't understand its mega-popularity. Jessica is far prettier.

It's my name and I go by Jess, 85-90% of the time. I have a cousin named Jennifer "Jenny" and I've known/know good amount of Jessica and Jennifer's.
Two of my best friends are Jessica (Jess) and Jessie (just Jessie) and we've named ourselves the Ickie's so I can understand where RDNZL is coming from with the 'ick' part, ha.

I much prefer Jessica. I don't actually like Jennifer at all, even though it's the name of one of my favorite cousins.

I've always thought it was nice, I don't care if there were 4 of them in every class I had growing up. Jessica I've never been a big fan of, although I think Jess or Jessie are nice enough to go by. Couldn't tell you which I've known more of, a lot of both.

I prefer Jessica. I have always disliked the "fer" ending of Jennifer and for that reason never really understood its wild popularity.
It's a toss up between how many people I've known of each name. Many of both. We have three employees right now named Jennifer. We have also had about four named Jessica. And they are not the only people of those names that I've known. I should have remembered Jennifer and Jessica, along with Amanda, when I recently made a list of "Names I've known so many people of that we always have to use the last name."
I'm just really grateful that I knew to steer clear of both when I had the opportunity to name a daughter in 1982.
