[Opinions] Re: Nina
My parent's good friend's Therese and Kim had a son named Lucas and a daughter named Nina. We used to visit them a bit when I was elementary school aged usually just before we'd go to visit my grandparents because their home was on the way. Therese was originally born in Switzerland and she grew up in communal/ co-operative housing so that was what she wanted in the US. Their home in WA was a kind of commune where everyone owns a large plot of land together but everyone has their own individual home on the land. Since they shared the land they had fancy in-ground play equipment and a nice chunk of forested land to explore/ play in. They had a community center/ town hall where they hosted all kinds of fun community events together. New Years and Fourth of July was so awesome there because they had dancing, party games, and contests like pie eating or karaoke contests and of course fireworks. When my grandparents moved and the other ferry was slightly closer to reaching them we stopped visiting Lucas and Nina as much - I really missed visiting them. Lucas was closer in age to me but my sister and I mostly played with Nina since Lucas was one of those little boy's who liked to tease girls.I very much associate the name Nina with my fond memories of visiting her and her community. If my husband wasn't such a private person I'd love for us to live in a community like that. The name Nina also reminds me of the Spanish word "nina" which means "girl".I personally doubt that Nina will become popular but I do meet someone with the name now and then.
