I never gave this name much thought before and I would like to hear your opinions on it :) What do you think of Sansa?

I love Sansa. It's my favorite name from game of thrones. I once had it in a potential name combo for a future girl but came to the conclusion that Gertrude Odette Sansa doesn't flow right. So it got kicked out of my combos but it may make it back with other names.
It's one name from the series that I wish took of more as Arya and Khaleesi (sp?) has done, because i just really love the sound of the name.

I like Sansa in a certain way, positive plain look & friendly soft sounding, but prefer rather Sancia & Sanja.

Hi Perrine !!!I read George R. R. Martin's books and I saw the series too.Sansa is one of my favourite names of this saga.
This is because at the contrary of the majority of the others it is not a "mispelled name" it is unique and borne for the books..isn't it? Or there is something of this name that I don't know? Has it any association in English or other languages?I think I would not use it anyway.
Not because it is ugly but because I'm not so tied to it to use it on a person.

Me too but I only read the first three books. I should start reading the fourth one :) Yes, many of the names were variants of names that already exist and I didn't like many of those either. But some were really nice :)Sansa is one of my favorites. I think he made some of the names up. But I think everyone also thought he had made Sansa up. But it seems to have Iranian/Indian roots.I also kind of like Eddard but not enough to use. I know Cersei is just a different spelling of Circe and then Catelyn is a variant of Caitlin. I also kind of like Bran. But I still prefer Harry Potter over Game of Thrones even though I like both :P

I think it's very tied to the asoiaf character. I like hr character and fel kind of sorry for her. Arya's my fave Stark And Tyrion's my fave POV from the series. I think it's usable with caution. Read the books (if you haven't) and then use it as a name for a child.

I like it well enough. I never thought about it much until reading ASOIAF. I wouldn't use it but I like it on other people.

Well, Sansa is one of my favorite POV characters from "A Song of Ice & Fire". She's the most interesting Stark, IMO, probably because she is so unlike her siblings and has lots of contact with other characters from King's Landing and the Eyrie. As for the name itself...eh. It's fine for the character, but too fantasy for real life. It's up there with Galadriel and Arwen. So, I like it fine right where it is.

I think it's very pretty. I suppose the 'Game of Thrones'/'A Song of Ice and Fire' association would be impossible to avoid, for good or bad.

It's a line of portable media players, MP3 players and like that.
In other words, as a name it would be like naming somebody Toyota or Clairol.
