Amy is cute and has a cheerful effervescence about it that I find appealing. I really would consider using
Amy particularly since their is no one in my circle of acquaintance with this name.
Amber would be my second pick, but I'm not really a big fan of jewel names. It also brings to mind an yellowy orange color that isn't my favorite.
Amanda feels the most like a mom name for babies that are being born now. I've known a lot of
Amanda's around my age or slightly older, so it falls in the category of a generic generational name like
Brittany,
Madison, and
Jennifer.
While
Amber reached its peak in 86 and
Amanda peaked in 87,
Amy reached the height of its popularity in 1975, making it more of a fun future Grandma name rather than a soccer mom.
