Angelica and Emilio tell everyone he died of illness and bury him in the yard to avoid prosecution for the death. Chiara misses her uncle, but no one else does. Angelica begins a play about an accidental murder, which she publishes anonymously.YEAR 8

Before they have the chance to marry, Aurelia gives birth to a daughter, causing scandal. Aurelia and Zenobia, however, are pleased to have had children at the same time, continuing to do everything together. Aurelia only wishes she had had twins too. However, Emilio and Angelica are worried about her, being unmarried with a child, and fear she only fell in love because Zenobia did. They hope Vittorio will marry her and her reputation will recover. YEAR 25

Zenobia acts in her mother’s most famous play. Chiara realizes that she is interested in women, not men, which her parents happily accept. Angelica and Emilio have led complicated lives, and a few more complications feel like nothing. They have faced tragedy and struggle, but ultimately they are happy. With grandchildren born and daughters following in their footsteps, they feel their lives have come full circle.
