I’ve never liked Edward that much, yet I enjoy the name Ned. I’ve always thought Edmund sounded so handsome though and timeless. I knew an Edwin in my school days and didn’t like it much back then, but over the years the name has really grown on me and I very much like it now. I also love Edgar, though that one wasn’t mentioned. From the list, I’d probably be the most inclined to go with Edmund and use the nn Ned or Teddy.

In order of preference: Edward, Edwin, Edmund.I would go with Eddie for a youngster. Unfortunately right now I can't think of Ted without thinking of Ted Cruz. I live in Texas and I am about as far from being a fan of Ted Cruz as you can get. So I guess Ed for an older person. Ned seems moldy and flat to me.

I’d go with Edwin. Edward’s too serious and formal yet also reminds me of Squidward. One of my first associations with it is Twilight as well (though Rob Pattinson is a fine man). Edmund is super whiny. So is Edwin actually, but still the best of the three.I’d go with Ed / Eddy for an adult. Eddy for a child as well. Ned / Neddie’s the worst imo.

I prefer Edward. But Edmund is growing on me. I also really like Edouard and Edmond. Edwin doesn’t appeal to me. Same with Edgar.Ed seems like the most obvious to me but I kinda love Ned. So I’d go with Ned. That said, I like Eddie. If I thought of him as Edward, I’d end up using Eddie but if I thought of him as Ned, I might end up using Neddie (although it’s not as nice looking in writing).Ted/Teddy belong to Theodore for me.

I like Edmund best, Edward is overused and I don’t like the sound of Edwin that much.I like Ned/ Neddie best as nicknames.

EdwardEdmund and Edwin are incredibly snooty imo. I like Teddy, Eddie and Ed as nicknames.

Edmund > Edward > Edwin
Although I like them all. Edwin just sounds less classic, more nerdy.I'd go with Ed/Eddy as a nickname for all, and maybe Teddy for Edward. Ned is just super geeky to me.

I like Edmund best. Edwin is a little bit childish and Edward is just sounds a little bit dated, but it doesn’t matter.
For an older person named Edmund I’d choose Ed, I hate Ted because this is what I’d call a dog, not a human. Ned is ok, it just spells Den backwards.
I like Eddie for a baby.

As a first name, I would go with Edmund as I have always found it striking. But for a middle name, Edwin has matched better with other names in my experience. Despite being the most common of the 3 by a huge margin, Edward is the only one I don't like.Ned would be the nickname I'd most likely use. I don't like Ted or Teddy. Ed is all right, but Eddie makes me think of skeevy dudes for some reason.

Edward's recently become one of my absolute favourites for no reason at all - I like Edmund too, but find Edwin a little bit stuffy. I love Ned as a nickname, and I'm not really sold on any of the "baby" nicknames, so I'd probably just stick with that.

I wouldn't choose Edmund. It's about as OK as the others, but I just don't enjoy the -mund. Which is why I would choose Rosamond instead of Rosamund. I prefer Edwin to Edward, probably because it's less common and maybe because I knew a really dishy Edwin when I was at school. But, Edward is a family name, so I'd probably use it IRL. It would only ever be a mn anyway.Ted, I think, rather than Ned. Neddy is the standard name for a donkey, or it used to be; and Ed is just too flat and obvious. And I'd use the same nn regardless of age.

Edmund. There’s one in my son’s nursery who just goes by the full name. Edwin and Edward are nice too, though. Ted / Teddy are super popular here (as standalone names as well as nns for Theodore or Edward) and are too trendy for me. Ned still just makes me think of Ned Flanders from The Simpsons! I would go with Eddie as a nn.

I'd go with Edmund. Edwin is great too, but it's too cool, too breezy. Edmund is fusty and I need a bit of fust in my names.Edward is also nice; in terms of boring classics I do legitimately enjoy Edward, it's so jewel-like. But Edmund is my favourite. Ted I prefer for Theodore, so I'd go with Ed/Eddie.

I love all the "Ed-" currently. If forced to choose, based on my surname alone, I think I'd use Edward. My surname ends in N and has two syllables. So Edwin and Edmund sound slightly rhymey with it. But I don't like the actual names any less. Edgar might be another variant I'd consider. I'm not the biggest fan of nicknames in general. But I think I'd be most inclined to use Ned. Ted would be a close second. Ed just seems so expected.

Edwin > Edward > Edmund. I just think Edmund is a bit heavy and clunky.I like Ned a lot, even as a standalone name.Teddy is super cute for a baby. I really don't think Neddie sounds good at all.

Edmund! I love the u- sound here. Moreover Edmund seems stronger, less common. Classic.
I can't explain why exactly but I dislike Edward. It's not hatred, but I won't choose it, even Edwin seems better, much better in fact.
Nicknames:
I'd prefer Ed/Eddie it's just logical and simple, and Ned, I guess.

I like them all, but Edmund is my favourite. I like Ned and Teddy, though the latter doesn't work as well as a nickname for Ed- names IMO.
