More about the parents' misguided wish to be different than about the children's life-long inconvenience.
For the record, I like Isabel - prefer Isobel, but it's not serious - and Thomas, nn Tom. Ronnee, especially with that spelling, could well be a form of Veronica, which I find unappealing, though Ronald is worse.
