I have never liked it as a girl name, even slightly, and nothing's changed. I don't even enjoy it for a boy, unless - and this applies to girls as well - it is a family ln and is used as a mn. That is acceptable.
Maddie happens. Whether it derives from Madison or Madeleine. So does Mads. Sad, but that's the human race for you.
