Stylistically, like the look of Noël; however, when typing up peoples names or filling out forms, it can honestly be a bit of a pain to add umlauts and accent marks. Pragmatically, I am more likely to use Noel unless I moved somewhere where accents marks were more common.

Noel (“NOLE”) for a boy is better than Noël (“no-WELL”) for a girl, but I can’t say I like either very much.In today’s digital world the trema above the ë might not always be possible, especially on government forms and IDs in predominantly English-speaking countries. Without it, the pronunciation changes. Plus, both names are a bit dated now. They feel like something you’d have seen on a kid in the 70s or 80s. And the kid is going to spend their entire life with people asking them if they were born around Christmas. If the answer is no, it’s a bit strange (mostly for Noël). If the answer is yes, that might have been something they would have preferred to keep secret. Many adults don’t like to draw attention to their birthday.
