Bronte, like the Yorkshire authors, seems to be Bron-Tay and it's what I'd expect people to guess. I don't enjoy lnfns at the best of times, and this particular ln was pretty well invented by the family's father, as an improvement on Prunty which was his birth ln. So I'd never expect to see it IRL. Plus, it would shorten to
Bron in a split second, so one might as well use
Bronwen in the first place, if you're making it fem. I'd rather name anyone after
Charlotte,
Emily and
Anne rather than Branwell and their name-synthesising father; but then I'd use one or two of those names, in my case,
Emily Anne or
Anne Emily.
