Help[Opinions] Millicent
I've always rather liked the name Millicent. I've always thought it sounds dignified and commanding, which fits in well with its meaning?
In the US, it's been out of the top 1000 names since the 1960s, hasn't been within the top 500 since 1928, and hasn't broken the top 400 at all in the records available on this site. Elsewhere, in England & Wales, it's not exactly ecstatically popular, but it's consistently within the top 1000 names.
So, what do you think of Millicent? Do you think it's useable today? Do you think it's poised for a comeback, or will ever be? Why or why not?

Millie is so popular that I would think Millicent could easily work. There are a lot of Millies. It's used as a nicknames for names such as Emilia, Emiliana, etc. I predict a Millicent comeback. It will chart on the top 1000 (USA) by 2030.

I don't like the way it looks like a thousandth of a cent.
I wonder if it's that "cent" spelling that makes it less appealing in the US.
To me personally, its big problem is the "Milli-" part. Millipede, millimeter etc.
I don't like that it seems guaranteed to just be Millie, either. I just don't like Millie. I like Mildred, but not enough to risk Millie.
Millie IS getting a comeback moment in the US, though!
I don't think Millicent is any uglier than Eleanor or Evelyn. Amelia, Violet, Hazel. ?? I mean, they're all pretty nice. Millicent seems no more prissy or stodgy to me, than Josephine or Penelope.
I do like other spellings - Melisent, Mellisant. Even Melisand / -send. There's nothing illegitimate about them, they're just less conventional.
For a name that gets so little use, convention hardly matters imo.
Probably they don't compete either though, because of Melissa being overused.
I dunno, to me Millicent / Melisent seems like a perfect name for people seeking that elusive overlooked gem underused classic pronounceable spellable familiar dignified yet still unpopular baby-name... except they're always bothered by the same things everyone else is, so they never like these "perfect" names, haha.
