Well it does remind me of guns because my dad buys Remington ammo, and I've seen the boxes around my whole life.
Other than that, I think of Remington Steele (before my time but I still know about it and associate Pierce Brosnan with James Bond). Which makes it seem a bit cheesy or try-hard suave, like a name popularized by a soap opera.
It sounds ok, though. I don't think it seems feminine but have no problem imagining it as a woman's name, since Remy is being used for girls and surnames are popular for girls. It doesn't sound like Brooklyn to me at all, though there are places called Remington; I'd sooner associate Remedios and Wellington based on sound, or Sawyer based on vibe.
