[Opinions] Belinda

I like Belinda.
I think it's pretty. I hope it makes a comeback.
I prefer Melinda, but Belinda is lovely too! Both are names I’d like to see make a comeback.
It should be everything I dislike in a name, but I surprise myself every time by really, really liking it. Linda is trite, Melinda is feeble, but beautiful Belinda somehow just rings my every bell. When I was a schoolgirl I used to catch the morning train with two little sisters, younger than me: Philippa, known as Pippa, and tiny Belinda: golden ringlets and a lovely personality. No nickname! I liked the name even before I met the child, but since then it's been a permanent favourite.
Thumbs down.
I think it sounds old-fashioned, but also pretty.
I really like it and think it's very pretty. It does feel a little dated, if only because the few Belindas I know are older than me. I'd love to meet a little Belinda! I actually love a very similar medieval name - Albelinda (https://www.behindthename.com/name/albelinda/submitted). I love the idea of the nn Albie for it. I don't know, it's fun to me lol
I love the idea of the nn "Bindy", like Mindy for Melinda. Like Bindi Irwin.
How funny I see this post, btw, just hours after watching Bella Hadid's Vogue makeup video where she talks about her "alter-ego" Belinda. I had to google if that was her full name but apparently she's an Isabella, she just likes the name Belinda and says it makes her braver when she goes out as "Belinda". lol.

I saw that too and it put the name Belinda in my mind. I was thinking what my “alter-ego” name would be. I had no idea Bella has my full first name! I thought it was just Bella, not Isabella.
Bindy as nickname for Belinda is such a good find!
Ps. Albelinda “Albie” is very cute

Yess, please do!
I think it's quite cute. Not quite as cute as Melinda, but I like it.
I was fully convinced for a very long time that Belinda wasn't a real name. It seemed to be a name that I encountered in, like, school readers, or in word problems in math textbooks. I still associate it with not being a name actual humans give their child - it strikes me as, I don't know, false?
I don't love any of the -linda family of names: Linda, Melinda, Belinda, etc. They just don't strike my fancy.

I agree! Belinda really does sound made-up even though it's not and has been around for generations. Definitely a math word problem type of name.
Belinda has 2,000 cookies to make for a bake sale on Saturday. She has only made 300. How many more cookies does she still need to make?
Or something like that. 🤣

Belinda's a great name! It's down to earth but unafraid of whimsicality.
Aw, I love Belinda. It's gently eccentric; just a touch of glitter without being garish. It has a bright turquoise colour to it in my mind; like a really cheery robin's egg blue. It's familiar but also a bit fanciful, and it has retro charm as well. It's lovely!
I like this, what a lovely take on the name.
