Funnily enough, my first name is Jessica-Kate! Growing up in the 90s with a bazillion other Jessicas, I was glad that my name was a little different. That said, I actually would prefer it if my name was different because it was "
Jessie". Let me explain: 1. Hyphens in names are super annoying, not everyone understands the concept and some digital forms refuse to recognise hyphens at all. 2. On top of the popularity,
Jessica has the sound "sick" in it. 3. I actually really like the NN "
Jessie", I grew up as "
Jessie". As an adult, however, it feels weird to introduce myself as "
Jessie" so I'm just "
Jess" like every other
Jessica. If my name was
Jessie this would be a different story.
Anyway, the point of my rant is that I love the idea of
Jessie as a full name on a girl.
